Buying windows and doors on a supply-only basis lets you choose your products and arrange fitting separately. It can suit a homeowner working with a local installer, a builder managing a renovation or an experienced tradesperson ordering for a customer.
The key to a smooth project is agreeing the details before placing the order. Measurements, opening directions and finishing components all need to work together.
What does supply-only mean?
With a supply-only order, you purchase the products to the specification you select. Surveying, removing the old units and fitting the replacements are separate arrangements unless expressly included in your order.
At EverFrames, you can configure made-to-measure windows and doors online. Your installer should check that your chosen specification suits the property and the work being planned.
Start with an agreed specification
Before comparing prices, write down what each opening needs. A useful product schedule includes:
- A clear location, such as “front entrance” or “kitchen window”.
- The chosen style and confirmed order dimensions in millimetres.
- Opening direction and hinge position, using the product’s viewing convention.
- Internal and external colours.
- Glazing, handles, locks and other selected accessories.
- Cills, thresholds, frame extensions and couplers where needed.
This makes it easier to compare like-for-like quotes and gives everyone involved a shared reference.
Have the measurements checked before ordering
A structural opening measurement and a finished product size are different things. Fitting allowances and the selected frame components need to be accounted for when the final order dimensions are agreed.
Ask the person fitting the products to check the measurements and specification before you pay. Our measuring guide is a useful starting point, and you can contact us if a product field is unclear.
Budget for the whole installation
Compare the complete project cost, including fitting, delivery, removal of old products, waste disposal and any making-good work. Check which components are included with your configured product and which must be ordered separately.
Fixings, packers, sealants and trims should be selected for the installation and the materials they will be used with. Your installer can confirm the quantities and specifications required.
Coordinate delivery and fitting
Confirm the expected lead time and delivery arrangements before committing to a fitting date. Think about access, unloading and a suitable place to keep the products before installation.
When the order arrives, check the items against your specification and report any damage, missing components or discrepancies promptly. Resolve concerns before installation wherever possible.
